Most people involved in public affairs fall into two grand schools: Some believe that America is a unique nation, a nation built upon extraordinary and good moral values, and a country which is a microcosm of what the world should be. These people need not be Americans. Churchill, for example, was an unabashed admirer of America.

Other people believe that America is simply a very arrogant country, a nation inhabited with bumpkins who believe too much in God, and because of its religious faith and confidence, the antithesis of what the world should be. This animus flourishes outside America, but it also has a strong camp following in America.

Barack Obama is decidedly in the second camp. He is an “America Denier.”

Why?

I can’t forget how annoyed Hillary Clinton’s supporters were with then-DNC chairman Howard Dean during the 2008 Democratic primaries, blaming Dean for mis-handling the controversy over Michigan and Florida delegates.  Dean’s refusal to count these delegates (along with thinly-veiled threats to Mrs. Clinton that she should drop out of the race) then-candidate — now-President — Barack Obama was able to go into future primaries with huge delegate lead and momentum to eventually win the nomination.

The president now shows his appreciation to Dr. Dean by proclaiming him ‘irrelevant’

While the Democrats appease Senator Lieberman, they still have to worry about other recalcitrant Democrats including Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson. Though Lieberman has been out front in the fight against the public option and the Medicare buy-in, Nelson was critical of both. Now that those provisions appear to have been stripped from the bill, Lieberman may get on board, but Nelson’s demand that taxpayer money not be used to fund abortion has still not been met. According to a Senate aide, the White House is now threatening to put Nebraska’s Offutt Air Force Base on the BRAC list if Nelson doesn’t fall into line.

Offutt Air Force Base employs some 10,000 military and federal employees in Southeastern Nebraska. As our source put it, this is a “naked effort by Rahm Emanuel and the White House to extort Nelson’s vote.” They are “threatening to close a base vital to national security for what?” asked the Senate staffer.

Some are awarded their Nobel Prize for past achievement. One thinks of Theodore Roosevelt’s mediating the peace that concluded the Russo-Japanese War of 1905 and led to the establishment of an international tribunal at The Hague to resolve disputes between nations. Bully for him! Barack Obama, it turns out, isn’t the first sitting president of the United States to be awarded the Prize.

Others earned their Nobels, whether for peace or literary accomplishment, in tribute to their courageous — and visionary — stands against tyranny and injustice in their own country. Names like Alexander Solzhenitsyn and Boris Pasternak come to mind. Both paid a heavy price for their courage, but the Soviet Union would pay a heavier one. That vast criminal enterprise is no longer with us, while “One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich” and Doctor Zhivago will surely be read long after Soviet Communism is but a dismal memory.

The French called Hitler a “revanchiste” — a Kaiser soldier of World War I who was aching to avenge that defeat. Hitler made no secret of his desire for revenge. He made it a Nazi slogan. Well, you can have ideological revanchisme as well — for instance, a Marxist determination to take revenge for America’s victory against world  Communism in the Cold War.

The word “Marxist” is now used as a kind of a sly boast in academia; I just talked with a professor who calls himself a “Marxist historian,” and smiles to himself when he says it. He obviously thinks he’s a hero by being a Marxist in America.  But according to Marxist historians themselves

Red regimes killed at least 100 million peoplein “crimes, terror and repression,” with still more dying today in North Korea. That’s not even counting the dead and wounded in wars fought by Communist regimes.

Obama’s early life indicates that young Barry may have been brought up as a Red Avenger against America. We know that he talks like an anti-capitalist and an anti-Constitutionalist, and that he compulsively apologizes for American actions during the Cold War. The Cold War was not something we started; it was started by Lenin, Stalin, Mao, and other totalitarian mass murderers long before the Korean War and the Vietnam War, our two hot proxy wars in the Cold War.

What we haven’t understood is how deeply Obama was indoctrinated in the war against America from childhood onward. But every intelligence agency in the world has to have it figured it out, because it’s all in the public record. Leftists around the world have also known it from day one, and that includes the leading Democrats. Obama was not an unknown to Democrat Party apparatchiks. Or the media. Only the American people were kept in the dark. The media and the Democrats are still doing their Obama cover-up today, and hoping they will get away with it.

President Obama is taking a sharp, populist tone with Wall Street and scolding the ways of Washington. Once again, he is looking to the Senate to follow the House and pass a top legislative priority: sweeping financial regulatory reform. It might feel satisfying to hear the President criticize “reckless”, “fat cat” bankers, but the financial reform legislation passed by the House last Friday (and lauded by the President) provides little incentive to change their behavior. In reality, populism — with nothing of substance behind it — is just cynical posturing designed to mask genuine failure. To use an expression favored by his predecessor, this president is once again showing himself to be all hat, no cattle.

President Barack Obama’s $1 trillion health-care overhaul won’t buy corporate America relief from medical costs that more than doubled in the last decade, chief executive officers of more than a dozen U.S. companies said.

Private companies, providers of benefits to 132 million Americans, will see little savings from legislation under debate in Congress, CEOs at United Parcel Service Inc., Safeway Inc. and Verizon Communications Inc. said in interviews over the past two weeks. The measures are more likely to add expenses, through taxes and fees on employers who don’t offer affordable coverage, said Ellen Kullman, chief of Wilmington, Delaware-based DuPont Co., the world’s third-largest chemical maker.

At the White House, as the Obama administration is learning all too well, a party is never a simple affair. (Just ask the Salahi-stricken Secret Service.)

The latest kerfuffle, the New York Times reports, involves the Obama administration’s first Hanukkah party.

One bone of contention has been the guest list: Administration officials say they are inviting 550 people, just 50 less than President Bush invited to his White House Hanukkah parties. But reports in the Israeli press spawned fast-spreading rumors that the Obama White House was only inviting 400 – and that the Bush White House had actually invited twice that number.

It was, some suggested, a snub – and one that critics said should not come as a surprise.
